Grizzly Bears in Northern BC

Thumbnail description: Hosts Greg Knox & Fred Seiler operate grizzly bear/ wildlife viewing tours during spring, late summer and fall. These seasons provide a look into different aspects of grizzly bear seasonal life cycles. They visit areas with the highest concentration of grizzly bears per square kilometer in the province. On these customized tours you choose your accommodation, which range from rustic cabins to a luxurious lodge.

BC's Coastal Marine Environment & First Nations Culture

Thumbnail description: Host Dr. Dave Levy offers an experience based at a lodge on Malcolm Island, where you will watch killer whales and grizzly bears, learn about First Nations culture, enjoy gourmet seafood dining, fish and gain a new appreciation for our coastal marine environment. During your tour, you will visit seldom-explored areas of the Broughton Archipelago and Knight Inlet.

Custom Safaris in British Columbia

Thumbnail description: Host Steve Noakes offers a number of long to very short itineraries throughout BC, both packaged and customized, covering the full range of mountains, lakes, wildlife, and small towns. Steve has a 7-passenger Ford Excursion specially equipped for professional Canadian off road standards and his tours are basically inn-to-inn, so fine food and lodging are never a question. Here we present a 7-day itinerary as an example of what can be done.

From Rainforest to Ocean

Thumbnail description: Host Al Lubkowski has designed a couple of tours to be taken separately or back-to-back. Sometimes using vans, sometimes kayaks and/or larger vessels, and camping, these tours provide about as much "deep immersion" in Canada's natural scene as possible. There is plenty of ocean and beaches in these itineraries, and a philosophy of "leaving all traces of civilization behind in your wake."

Geology & Fossil Tours in the Mountains around Kamloops

Thumbnail description:  When cartographer John Ratcliffe moved to southern British Columbia he used his map-reading talent to explore old & forgotten logging roads through the area's rugged mountains. During these trips he discovered some amazing undisturbed mineral, crystal and fossil sites.  It turns out that this area is one the most abundant Eocene (36.6 to 57.8 million years old) fossil sites in B.C. Today John has an extensive collection of geology and fossil specimens, plus he is the only person conducting geology and fossil tours in British Columbia.

Journey into Coast Salish Culture, with a Possibility of a Homestay

Thumbnail description:  For two days this event's host, Tlex-tan, a member of the Sliammon First Nation, introduces visitors to his native culture along the coast not far north of Vancouver. Often during canoe trips, Tlex-tan introduces the areas plants and animals. He himself is a skilled craftsman and a traditional carver, thus can offer special insight into Sliammon handicraft.. Visitors at night may stay either in local homes or at the Elders Lodge on the reservation.  Lodging off the reservation is also available.
