Stretch was out on the trail when we wanted some information about him but his "better half," Irene, was kind enough to send us a note detailing her opinion about that other half. The description has such a ring of authenticity to it (you can almost smell the horse lather) that we'll just place Irene's own words here. Irene wrote:

Stretch is out mustering and won't be back for a couple of weeks. We are pretty busy at the moment. You want to know a little about Stretch. In Australian terms, I suppose you could call him a bit of a "bushie" and a bit of a "character" as well. He is well versed in the Flora and Fauna, and is happy to answer all questions.

He is 45 years old (as of the middle of the year 2000), 6ft 6ins. tall. He is one of the best horsemen I've seen, he started riding at 4 years of age, on his parents sheep station in N.S.W. He has broken-in and trained all the horses we use on our Tours. He has also been known to 'down' the odd beer here and there.

I have sat at the campfire at night with our guests and listened to Stretch entertain with yarns and jokes. I haven't heard him repeat himself yet, he seems to have an endless supply!! Stretch really enjoys what he does and takes pride in making sure our guests experience and enjoy the Australian bush. As an example, we have had a Japanese family return 7 times in 5 years. Their children write to him, and refer to him as 'Uncle Stretch'
