Maharajkumari Meenakshi Devi Of Mysore, daughter of The Late His Highness Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Maharaja of Mysore, organizes these horse safaris. She was also a Former Member of the Social Welfare Board of Karnataka. She is 50 years old.
She is a very good rider, having learnt from the age of 6 years. Her hobbies are listening to music, photography and fishing. She is also fond of going out to the jungle to view wild animals, a passion she developed being with her late father. She is a very adventurous person not very fond of living in the city, and this explains why she started her horseback adventures in Mysore. She was the first person to start such an enterprise in Mysore. She also owns a riding school in Bangalore Palace grounds called Princess Academy of Equitation. The Academy offers riding to novice riders, as well as show jumping and tent pegging. Her son Varchuswee SS Raje Urs is 21 years and is studying in college for his Bachelor of Arts degree. He helps his mother by accompanying her on the safari and looks after the total management of the safari and the academy. He is the president of both the organizations. His hobbies are cricket, music, and photography, and of course riding. He is also fond of going out to the jungle to view wild animals. He is also a very adventurous person not very fond of living in the city. As well, he is fond of cars and interested in formula racing. He never misses a day watching TV when the races are on. The interests of Meenakshi Devi and her son Varchuswee SS Raje Urs are very similar so it is very convenient for them to interact with one other. Menakshi and her son conduct EarthFoot's Two Horse Safaris near Mysore program. |
