I'm in my 30's, and my wife and I practise architecture and landscape architecture in a coastal city called Kochi, in Kerala state, India We have our own practise, mostly doing landscapes for resorts in Kerala, and a few in other states of south India. We both took our degrees in Architecture from Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, and masters degrees in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA. We live in Kochi mostly, but I also travel often to some agricultural holdings that we have. My family have been farmers for several generations, and we still grow Cardamom, Rubber, and Vanilla.
I'm also one of the directors of a company called the Gaia Environmental Conservancy. The farm at Mayuram is a project of Gaia, and its my baby. We are trying to develop it as a different kind of farm, putting self-running systems in place, instead of the conventional methods that rely on huge annual inputs. Its a long term project, and the Mayuram eco-lodge is one of the sub-projects within the larger project. Rajesh conducts EarthFoot's "Mayuram Farm Lodge of the Southern Western Ghats" program |
