Earthfoot host Ivailo Nikolov
in Bulgaria

Ivailo Nikolov

Ivailo Nikolov graduated in the Faculty of Biology of the University of Sofia with two specializations: 1 - Zoology of vertebrates and anthropology (with diploma work defended in ornithology); 2 - Fishfarming and ichthyology.

During the last more than ten years (since 1990) he took part in many monitoring and other research scientific programs, concerning regional and migration studies on the avifauna throughout Bulgaria. He is also an expert in the "Fauna group" for the duration of the establishment of the "Natura 2000" network of protected areas in the country.

His main interests are directed to investigations of the ornithofaunistical communities in different habitats: woods, meadows, shrubby areas and wetlands and not the least wildlife photo-hunting. The great field experience in finding and determination of all Bulgarian birds visually or by voice, collected so far, is of special importance for his recent occupation as a birding guide in Bulgaria.

If anyone wishes to enjoy some of the 22 globally-threatened species of birds in Bulgaria or just to observe concrete species/species list or to watch the avifauna of specific habitats, please contact him! He will make your stay there as fruitful as possible!

Ivailo Nikolov conducts EarthFoot's "Spring birdwatching tour through the mountains and wetlands of Bulgaria" program.
