Mike Keighley was born in Victoria in 1957. He spent a lot of his younger years exploring nature and all things great and small in southern Australia and later his family moved to Northern Australia when Mike was eleven.
Mike is a full time tour operator and a self confessed crocodile junkie spending his spare time on rivers at night studying the reptiles. It's a passion he got hooked on when he was a kid and now makes it part of his living. Mike is a Senior Savannah Guide. Savannah Guides are highly accredited outback guides with a mission to 'interpret and protect' the Savannah regions of Northern Australia. The group were recently awarded Best Tourism Organisation - globally - in London for their emphasis and practise of eco-sensitive tourism. Australia's Ecotourism Accreditation Panel have accredited Mike's tours with Advanced Ecotourism status and Mike is a member of the International Association of Tour Guides. Mike's tours ( he prefers to call them 'experiences') are well recognised for their holistic approach to nature and conservation - and the involvement of Aboriginal people strengthens the interpretation. Mike's company FAR OUT ADVENTURES ( http://www.farout.com.au ) runs tailormade safaris across Northern Australia and along the East Coast. Mike conducts EarthFoot's "7-Day 'Urban Recovery Tour' in the Outback" experience. |
