Earthfoot host Chongteah Lim in Sarawak - Borneo

Chongteah LimMain Field Of Interest: Bioprospecting and conservation of the flora and fauna of Borneo. Intended to set up a conservation for swiftlets (Aerodramus Maximus) which have been diminishing alarmingly because of the illegal poaching for the nests in the caves. Also interested in ethnobotany- the studies of wild plants used by the dwellers of the jungle in Borneo, the Penan.

Education: B. Sc in Agriculture, Diploma in Building Technology, Winnipeg, Canada.

Background: Born in 1958, Lim grew up on a small town, Limbang, Sarawak, Malaysia in Borneo island. Educated in Canada from 1977 to 1983. Upon his graduation, he worked as a cocoa trader at the local big company. After that he quit his job and started his business in farming and construction work. Through years of experience in entrepreneuring, he has come across up and down, pros and cons in the business world. This in a way has polished his mind and body and he is able to recognise ecotourism as a new opportunity. He believes that ecotourism can contribute to the development of the isolated interior poor area. Lim is also the advocate of using biodegradable plastic and detergent. He prefers to employ local guides, eat local vegetable and fruits and stay at local lodge. He is a qualified nature guide.
