Bob Makransky is a systems analyst and programmer who came to Guatemala in 1973 and started the first blueberry plantation in Central America. Since traditional Mayan religious practices and ceremonies are still a part of everyday life in Guatemala and are everywhere evident (once you get outside the cities), Bob became interested in first watching, and later participating, in these rituals. Since he is a
professional astrologer, he began studying the sacred Mayan astrological almanac known as the "Chol Qij", which is used by the Mayans both to time ceremonies and prayers, and also to forecast one's destiny based upon which one of the twenty day-signs a person was born.
He wrote a program for Windows which computes and interprets one's Mayan Horoscope, and also provides an explanation of the Chol Qij and how to read Mayan calendrical inscriptions. Bob was also initiated into the Mayan spirit world, and learned techniques to obtain guidance and divine for answers to questions, remove maleficent influences, and make wishes. He teaches these techniques (such as channeling and invoking Mayan spirits) to those who are interested in learning them. Some of the information Bob has received from the Mayan spirits relates to the medicinal plant jorobte (Cornutia grandifolia) and its use in the treatment of cancer and AIDS, as well as information on spiritual agriculture and cookery. Bob has written two books which explain the theory and practice of the magical teachings he has received. The books (with excerpts and reviews) are available through his Web site, which also has posted some of his articles on astrology and Guatemalan folklore, short stories, and cartoons. Bob conducts EarthFoot's In & Around (Physically & Spiritually) A Blueberry & Medicinal Herb Farm program. |
