Blythe Reis
| I moved from San Francisco to Orleans 10 years ago with a
few friends to start Sandy Bar Ranch an educational community and working farm based
on permacultural principles here in the Klamath Mountains of Northern California.
One of my passions is horticulture and I oversee our organic flower and vegetable
gardens. I also teach yoga, and manage a small cabin business. We hold several
workshops a year which focus on the natural environment. Topics include wild mushroom
identification, botanical illustration and fruit tree propagation and care. I feel fortunate to live in this remote corner of California where plants and animals still outnumber people, and I am able to interact with blue herons and osprey, foxes and bears, salmon and otter, on a daily basis. I love to introduce people to our publicly owned forests and rivers and explore the flora and fauna of the Klamath Mountains with them. As a member of our local Watershed Council, I am also active in the community addressing forest issues ranging from salmon recovery efforts and water quality to road decommissioning and revegetation. I enjoy sharing what I have learned with others and would be happy to have you come visit.
