Dennis was born in 1964 and spent most of his formative years in Oregon, USA, beginning to watch birds there at the age of 10. A university overseas-study program to Costa Rica was his introduction to tropical birding; after graduation he worked summers in forestry in order to travel the rest of the year, visiting 30 countries in the process. In 1994, he went to Costa Rica again to write a bird-finding guidebook, and is still there.
In addition to Site Guides: Costa Rica and Panama, Dennis also has authored Site Guides: Venezuela and co-authored Birds of Oregon, Status and Distribution. Currently he works as a biodiversity researcher and free-lance guide, and lives in San Jose with wife Elena Zamora and son Steven. You can review Dennis's books at http://www.cinclustours.com/books.htm. Dennis conducts EarthFoot's Five Birding trips in Very Different Habitats program. |
