Kumaran Sathasivam, on the right in the picture, has maintained a keen interest in all life forms as a naturalist. He is a freelance writer and editor, writing mainly on topics related to nature. He has recently completed writing his second book, 'The Marine Mammals of India'. His first book, A Forest in the City, is a prize-winning children's book. Kumaran is also interested in amateur radio.

K.V. Sudhakar , on the left, (using south-Indian practice, "Sudhakar" is Sudhakar's given name, while K.V. is his "family name") has always been interested in nature and was associated with the formation of the Madras Naturalists' Society (MNS), a natural history society in Madras. Sudhakar is currently its Honorary Secretary. His series of articles on nature appears in the local press. His other interests include wildlife photography, history and culture. He is widely travelled in the forests of the Western Ghats and peninsular India..
