Raúl Tapuy

Raśl TapuyRaśl, whose photo appears at the right, does not have direct access to the Internet, and logistics and communications for his tours are handled by his friend, Pascual Kunchicuy. When Pascual wrote us, this is what he said of himself, in his own words:

I am a SHIWIAR INDIAN. I am from village of corrientes river, deep in the jungle region of Ecuador, S.A. My tiny village has total population of around 300. The only convenient way to get there is small single engine aircraft. It takes 45-60 minutes flight departing from airport (Shell) into the village Pavacachi.

Pascual sent us a photocopy showing Raśl's official government papers identifying Raśl as an Ecuadorian citizen born in Puyo-Pastaza in 1968. The Ministry of Ecuadoran Tourism has certified him as a native guide specialized in the Amazon Rainforest, "la selva amazonica."

Raśl conducts our Jungle Expedition among the Shiwiar Indians.
