John Zacharias
John is the
scion of a long family of spice farmers of Central Kerala. Great pride is taken in having
gone back to the traditional way of spice planting & cultivation through organic
farming & water conservation techniques. He is currently also holding the post of
Professor in Commence in the local college, where he teaches International Commence with
special emphasis on the local agricultural economy with reference to the changes
after the WTO regime. Being a 'son of the soil', he understands the problems of the
farmers & fully empathises with their plight. He farms spices, cocoa beans,
coffee, & rubber besides venturing into floriculture especially anthuriums &
orchids. He lives at Mundakkal Spice Plantation Villa with his wife Rani & children Lisa and Karia. John conducts EarthFoot's Homestay at A Spice Plantation Villa in Central Kerala program. |
