A Week of Wildlife Viewing & Birding

Thumbnail description: Host Ben Mugambi, born in the shadows of Mt. Kenya, has a profound passion for and knowledge of the plants, animals and ecology of his homeland. He is a "bronze category" member of the Kenyan Professional Safari Guide Association and uses a 4x4 safari minibus. Here Ben proposes a week-long itinerary (Nairobi - Aberdares - Samburu - Shaba - Nakuru - Mara) designed specificially to show off wildlife, especially large animals and birds. Ben is very flexible and can customize tours of any length, with any focus, from fancy to "budget" class.

400 Bird Species Possible in 13 Days of Birding

Thumbnail description: Professional birding guide Victor Kabiru has designed an itinerary with the goal of spotting 400 African birds, from Africa's smallest bird of prey, the Pygmy Falcon, to the largest (an antelope hunter) the Martial Eagle. The safari includes a walk in 11,000ft-mountain moorland, through the Rift Valley acacia bush of the Soysambu Wildlife Sanctuary and through the dense western forest of Kakamega.

On the Coast

Village Life Among the Giriama

Thumbnail description: This is for the traveler who truly wishes to experience Kenyan tribal culture. This safari will take you straight from the hustle and bustle of the capital city of Nairobi down to the relaxed, slow pace of the Giriama Tribe on the Kenyan Coast in the village of Watamu. We propose that you spend eleven days and nights exploring the local villages and schools as you live in a local house and enjoy the traditional Giriama foods such as bean stews, coconut fish and ugali (Made from maize flour.) Your experience will be hosted by tribal member Nelson Bashora and his family.
