USD 100/ per person inclusive of all expenses and taxes for 2 nights and 3 days it includes the following.

  • Accomodation on twin share basis for 2 nights. Rooms are neat with attached bath rooms having 24 hrs running water, hot water will be supplied in buckets.
  • Food for 3 days - coffee, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. Seasonal fruits will be supplied. Dinner of the last day is not included.
  • Drinks- Mineral water, tea and coffee. Beverages are not included.
  • All entry fees and camera fees in the sanctuaries are included. Movie camera fees are not included. Elephant ride Travelling expenses from Kochi back to Kochi, trekking & guides charges.
  • Books and materials for identification of animals, birds ethnology and history are available with the team.

National Geographic recommended the western Ghat as a biodiversity hotspot. This tour is an exploration to the western ghats. It is designed to cover all of its geographic areas and biodiversity spots. It is only a glance-but packed with actions.

DESTINATIONS:

  • Midland Kerala: The land sandwiched between the coast and ghats, is rich in agriculture and tropical plantations. The tour passes through the midland to reach the wild life area. So it visits the midland plantations like rubber, pine apple, vanilla etc.
  • Neriyamangalam: Gateway to the high ranges of the ghats, this place is on the banks of river Periyar. The tour has a stop here to enjoy the lush evergreen forest and water falls, also visits the habitat of many interesting insects.
  • Adimali: The tour stops here for lunch, Adimali is the valley of spices like cardamom, pepper, cinnamon etc. After the lunch the tour visits the spice plantations.
  • Munnar: Perched on the roof of the state at an altitude of 5000ft plus, it is the land of tea plantations and low flying clouds.
  • Eravikulam National park: 90 sq kms national park for the protection of the endangered mountain goat-Nilgiri thar, Many rare species of animals and plants are found here.
  • Marayoor: Group of 5 tribal villages, Marayoor is an archaeological site and a natural sandal wood forest in Kerala. The sandal wood of Marayoor are the best in the world. A pre historic rock shelter painting and the sarcophagi, an ancient Buddhist cave church and the sacred groves of this village lead us to a distance place in the history.
  • Chinnar wild life sanctuary: Located in the eastern side of the ghats it is the habitat of may endemic and endangered species of animals and plants. Here you can see wild elephants very close. Another interesting feature of this sanctuary is the variation in its altitudes- from 50 mts. To 2300 mts. Mean sea level. It shares its flora and fauna with Anamalais of Thamilnadu. The sanctuary is a good abode of birds.
  • Amaravathi: An elephant reserve area of the Indira Gandhi National Park in Anamalais is a dry arid and thorny scrub forest . During rainy season crocodiles can be sighted in its lagoons.
  • Top Slip: The head quarters of 1000 sq kms. Indira Ghandhi Wild life and tiger reserve Top Slip is an ideal spot for trekking and elephant safari through the jungle. It is an exclusive game park shares its flora and fauna with Parambikulam and Chinnar of Kerala.
  • Parambikulam: The proposed tiger reserve of Kerala, sharing its flora and fauna with Top slip and Peechi sanctuary. The water reservoir and the teak plantations of the sanctuary facilitate the easy sighting of animals. It is the natural habitat of marsly crocodiles. The area covering topslip and prarambikulam are the largest abode of leapords in South India. The biggest teak in the world in this sanctuary.
  • Mannavan Chola: The biggest high altitude moist/rain forest in the peninsula, located at altitude of 2100 mts. Is the abode of many endemic species of animals birds and plants. It is the largest abode of Nilgiri marten in the ghats. 14 out of the 16 endemic species of birds of the ghats are found here.
SPECIES TO BE SOUGHT:

  2. Cats: Tiger, Leopard, Leopard cat, rusty sopted cat jungle cat, golden and fishing cat.
  3. Deer: sambars, barking deer, sopted deer and mouse deer.
  4. Civets: tody cat common Indian civet, malabar civet.
  5. Squrrel: Malabar giant, grizzled giant, giant flying, travancore flying, 5 striped, and 3 striped squirrels.
  6. Primates: Nilgiri langur, common langur, bonnet meccac, lion tailed meccac and slender loris.
  7. Common IndIan Otter, smooth Indian otter, Nilgiri Marten Nilgiri thar.
  8. Indian porcupine, Indian hare
  9. Jackal, Indian wild dog (dhole)
  10. Common mangoes, small indioan mangoes and striped neck mangoose
  11. Birds: There are about 450 species opf birds in the traverse including 16 endemic to the ghats. Bird life international recommended this area as most endemic bird area in Asia.
  12. Reptiles: There are about 45 species of snakes, Lizards, skinks, caicos turtles and crocodiles are the others.
  13. Butterflies and moths: There are about 350 species. Banded peacock, southern bird wing etc are the big. Paris peacock is the most beautiful. Atlas moth-biggest in the world is found in the high altitude shoals,
  14. Insects: Thousands of species of insects in this area. The giant wood spider, walking sticks, leaf insects etc are very interesting.
  15. Plants: There are thousands of specious plants and trees in this area. Some important among them are sandal wood tree, teak tree, mahogany, hopia and rhododendron, giant ferns etc.
  16. Bio- Geographic divisions: Tropical evergreen, moist deciduous, high altitude moist, tropical deciduous, dry deciduous, grass lands, dry arid and thorny scrub forest.
  17. Archaeological sites: The sarcophagi came under the south Indian megalith are believed to be built around 1000 BC to 1st century AD. The rock shelter drawing claimed more than 1000 years . The Buddhist church is believed to be built in 1st century.

Itinerary

Day 1
  • 7.30 am departure from Kochi.
  • 8.30 am Breakfast and visit to rubber, Pineapple & vanilla plantations.
  • 11.30 am visit to Neriyamangalam and Valara waterfalls. Introducing many interesting insects and plants of tropical evergreen forests.
  • 1.0 P.m. lunch
  • 2.0 2.00 pm visit to pepper and cardamom plantations.
  • 3.30 p.m. Visit to tea plantations
  • 4.30 pm visit to Ervikulam National park to spot Ibex and soft trekking for one and half hours.
  • 6.45 pm at Marayoor-Reception with an evening tea and snacks.Check in at the Hotel.
  • 8.30 P.M. dinner
Day 2
  • 5.15. am wake up call
  • 5.45 am morning safari to chinnar and Amaravathi after teaa/coffe.
  • 8.30am breakfast and relief break
  • 9.30 am proceed to Topslip through Tamil Nadu villages enjoying their temples and culture.
  • 11.00 am enter Topslip
  • 11.30 am visit to a small biodiversity museum.
  • 12.00 noon proceed to Parambikulam wild life sanctuary.
  • Visit to the oldest teak in the world, enjoining the wild life.
  • 1.30 pm lunch
  • 2.30 trekking in Topslip
  • 4.00 pm elephant ride through the forest
  • 5.30 pm return to the forest through Chinnar & Amaravathy resort
  • 8.00 pm back at hotel
  • 8.30 dinner.
Day 3

  • 9.00 am proceed to archaeological sites and high altitude rain forest
  • 1.00pm lunch
  • 2.00 pm pack all things and proceed to Kochi through tea plantations
  • 2.30 pm visit to a tribal village and waterfall
  • 4.00 pm back at Munnar for shopping
  • 5.00pm proceed to Kochi
  • 8.00 pm back at Kochi

Note:
  • No video camera will be allowed in Parambikulam Sanctuary
  • Timing and sequence of the itinerary may change depends of the season weather etc with prior notice.
  • All our programmes are legal and with permission from concerned authorities of Kerala and Tamilnadu. In Chinnar and Amaravathy safari is possible only through the road. Our guides and escorts are well experienced in these areas and they know the animal trails and pockets. In Topslip and Parambikulam the road is opened only for the tourists.
  • In Parambikulam Sanctuary you should show the passport and visa details.
  • Things to carry: Woolen and cotton long clothes, sun glasses, binoculars if any, towel, toilet paper etc. (We have enough space top carry your back packs)

  • Night safari can be arranged as per the season and permission
