WHAT WE OFFER:
roomMundakkal Spice Plantation Villa is at  the foothills of  Central Kerala near Kottayam. This region has long  been  known as the heartland of the spice farms that have made Kerala so famous across the world. This tour enables you to mingle with the farmers in this predominantly farming village, do a bit of birding & take walks around the countryside or do some biking around the villages here. This villa set in a village ambience, has all modern amenities and has the  tranquil setting so typical in a Keralan village. This indeed is the ideal setting for anybody who relishes a laid-back village life, loves excellent food,  prefers to mingle with the simple local people & reaches out to the  - a perfect hideaway for those who want to getaway from it all - albeit for a few days!

Our villa is just over an hour's drive from Kochi.  The map below gives you an idea how to get there (60 kms from Kochi). In any case we will have you picked up from anywhere to reach here.

A sample Itinerary

harvest timeDay 1 - On arrival, received in a traditional Keralan way with a welcome drink of coconut water. A walk through the village to see the farming methods by the local farmers. Activities include spice farming, tapioca farming, coconuts etc..& maybe take part in their farming activities.

Day 2 - Early morning a trip around the villa for birding. A walk up the hill is also a very good morning exercise. The trek passes through the plantations of rubber, giving you an opportunity to watch the extraction of latex and the processing of rubber latex to 'sheets'. This totally agrarian community is experimenting with eco-farming methods.  Also on the cards, a tour of the medicinal plants grown around the villa & learn about the Ayurveda practices. After breakfast, an organic spice plantation tour highlighting organic farming techniques used for spices plantations . In the afternoon, a visit to the ancient church nearby. Also in the evening, try your hand out a Keralan cooking with the hostess Rani - an expert on meat preparations in the true Keralan style.
