When: From the last snow fall in early Spring (April - May) till the first snowfall in late Fall (Oct - Nov)

Length: Your tour begins as soon as I meet you at your place of stay, either camping, Rv'ing or staying in one of our many guest ranches, and it ends 1 hour before sunset. I offer two day-trips, one focusing on geology, the other on paleontology.

Number of guests: 1 to several

Fee:

  • One adult: $100.00 / each tour day.
  • 2 to 6 adults: $60.00 / each tour day.
  • Children under 12 $25.00 each / tour day
  • Group rates of (6) or more available upon request.
  • 50% deposit, non-refundable due at time of booking.
  • A minimum 30-day advanced booking during our peak season is highly recommended.

What is supplied: All necessary hand tools, gloves, safety glasses for eye protection, wrapping material for your specimens & fresh drinking water as well as water & soap to clean up with after your tour.

Requirements: Proper foot wear, a hat, sunscreen, light lunch & beverage, your camera & plenty of film. Above all, your curiosity.

Transportation: All sites are be easily accessed in your own vehicle & are less than a 45 minutes drive from Kamloops.

General notes: We are ready to serve the inexperienced or knowledgeable, pebble-pup, rockhound, geologist or paleontologist, young and old. All of our sites are within easy car access, with ample parking. Some sites require a short hike to the location - just enough to increase the anticipation of your trophy collecting, whether it's crystal, mineral or fossil collecting.

Abandoned gold town Did you know that Kamloops main fossil age is of the Eocene Era, dating from 36.6 to 57.8 million years old? You can find: fossilized insects, fish, flowers, branches, crustaceans & a wide variety of leaves. The Mineral treasures available include: quartz crystals, selenite crystals, common opal, eye agate, banded agate, crystallized (hollow) nodules, silver galena, gold pyrites, rhodochrosite, zeolites (micromount specimens) and petrified wood, to name a few.

Soon after your visit you can expect to receive from us a follow-up with photos and a site report detailing your excursion.
