Wedged between the Himalayan Kingdoms of Nepal, Bhutan, and the Tibetan uplands, this region has the most magnificent range of snow clad mountains in the world! The Himalayan barriers of this arc enclose three sides of a gigantic amphitheater; hewn as it were out of the Himalayas, and sloping down on its Southern side towards the plains of North Bengal Mount Khangchendzonga is not just a mountain, but the Sikkimese protective deity. The 8596 Meters elevated summit is the third highest in the world. The Sikkimese worship this peak, considering it to be the abode of five treasures of the snows. ![]() ![]() From the majestic 5-summited top of Mount Khangchendzonga, the Singelila Range, slopes downwards towards the South along the Indo-Nepal border, dipping down to an elevation of 3275 Meters at the Chiyabhanjan pass, close to the trijunction of Nepal, Sikkim and Bengal. The ridge offers breathtaking views not only of the Khangchendzonga but also of Everest (8848 Meters), Makalu (8475 Meters), and Lhoste (8501 Meters). It is endowed with nature's bounty. With Peter Lobo you will be trekking along the spine of the Singelila Range to the 4572 m high Dui-la, the pass of the Devil. The route follows the ancient grazing trail of the yak herdsmen. There is no habitation. It is the domain of Yaks and their lonely herdsmen, lakes, glacial valleys, gurgling streams, cascades, chiseled snow peaks, meadows, forests, Rhododendrons, wildlife, birds, and breathtaking views of 6000 to 8000 m high peaks of the Khangchendzonga group, and Mount Everest Group. ![]() ![]() Dui-la; the Pass of the Devil, with its howling winds is reached on the sixth day. Thereafter we camp with a yak herd, to get a feel of their lifestyle. Peter will walk with you to show you Alpine lakes, birds, wildlife and flora. Every evening you can learn from him the art of turning out unusual meals at high altitude, with little infrastructure. You will finally descend through yak pastures to a remote village to get to know the Himalayan upland people, before trekking down to the road head. Designed by General "Jimmy Singh, this trek is a rewarding and exciting experience of the Himalayan uplands. NOTE: Sikkim is a restricted area but is open to Foreign tourists for 15 days at a time.
