NOTE: Guests will travel up to 400 km with their hosts. There are many other routes for combined cultural and history tours we can discuss. Ugii Lake is 400 km from the Capital city.

ITINERARY

Day 1 (half day): You will arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the Capital city of Mongolia. We will meet you at Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport. You will soon be transferred to a Hotel. Depending on your arrival time (noon or afternoon) we will organize for you a city sightseeing tour in Ulaanbaatar. You may be able to see by your choice two or three of the following cultural attractions, namely the National Historical Museum, the Mongolian Natural Museum, Gandan Buddhist Monastery, Bogd Khaan Museum, Choijin Lam Museum. In late afternoon (18:00-20:00 ) you will enjoy performance of "Tumen Ekh" Mongolian Folk and Dance Ensemble or Opera House.

The steppe Day 2: At 9 a.m. we start our countryside trip to Ugii lake. The distance is 400 km or five hour drive by jeep. On the route we will cross areas with Gobi, steppe and mountain steppe landscapes and see (or stay shortly at) Sand dune and Khogno Khaan Special Protected Area. The route itself is one of the three main tourist routes in Mongolia, and the areas we cross are among the most beautiful places in Mongolia to take a picture. Packed lunch will be served at around 1 p.m. on the route. We will reach Ugii lake at 3 p.m. After taking 2 hour rest at the ger camp we will invite you for introduction of Ugii lake, its surrounding environment, natural heritages and nomadic cultures of Mongolia with a broad range of Q &A. Mongolian traditional dinner will be served.

Day 3: You will be invited to visit a herdsman family for introduction of nomadic culture. You will enjoy seeing daily nomadic lifestyle, all five types of domestic animals and their husbandry practices, dairy products making and ger (national dwelling) structure. You will also enjoy hearing many traditional customs and may also take camel or horse back riding. You may wish to enjoy kayaking. Introduction to Mongolian history (from Chinggis Khaan period to modern days of Mongolia)

marsh Day 4: At 6 a.m. (or earlier, if you wish) you may start enjoying your bird watching adventures at Ugii lake. You may choose two of the four basic bird watching routes, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon by using available facilities (tower, kayak, horse or on foot). Those who wish to enjoy fishing may go to Ugii lake, Tamir or Orhon rivers, two of the biggest rivers in Mongolia (3-5 km only) for fishing. Free time, Fresh air, Open wild nature you will love.

Day 5: We will take you to Harhorin, the ancient Capital of what was the largest land empire the World had ever known, either before or since (90 minute drive).You will enjoy seeing Endenezuu monastery-museum and other historical places and monuments around Harhorin. There are historical monuments, Ruins of Stone monastery and Turkic Inscribed Monument on the road. You will stay at tourist camp over night in Harhorin.

Day 6: After two days of seeing historical places, getting good knowledge of nomadic culture and your full enjoyment, excitement and real adventures in watching over 170 species of thousands of Mongolian wild birds, you will be back to Ulaanbaatar. Free time - shopping and sightseeing after 3 p.m.

Day 7: (half day): Breakfast in your hotel and we will take you to the airport.

Note: This tour can be extended by 1-5 days, if you wish so. One extra day charge will be equal to 10 % of the price. During your whole trip you will be served by interpreter and by local guides.
