Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is located between the river Marañon and the Ucayali in the Department of Loreto. It is the second largest natural protected area in Peru, consisting of 2,080.000 hectares. Inhabiting the reserve are 449 species of birds, 102 of mammals, 69 of reptiles, 58 of amphibians, 256 of fish and 1024 of wild plants.
We offer you the opportunity to observe the jungle in all its wildlife, including the rowdy little monkey, the "leoncito," a great variety of tropical birds, beautiful pink dolphins, and countless other animals. In the evenings you will witness breathtaking sunsets reflected in the mirror-like glassy black waters of Samiria.
We offer excursions with local guides who know the secrets of the jungle and will take you on a marvelous adventure with visits to lagoons, walking trails, night excursions, etc. Also we offer the option of camping in the jungle while there are also comfortable sleeping accommodations in the village. The guest house is of typical cultural design, constructed with materials native to the region and equipped with bathrooms, hammocks, lanterns and private rooms with mosquito netting and beds.
