Driving here from New York City, Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, Pittsburgh, PA, or Toronto Canada will take about 5 hours. There is no public transportation that arrives in Wellsboro as a destination. Guests may arrive by plane or bus at Elmira, NY or Williamsport, PA. If one has a small private airplane, there is a 3200 ft paved runway airport ("PA Grand Canyon Airport") located just outside of town. Arrangements to meet your bus or flight from any of these places may be made with your host at no extra cost. ![]() Each Safari is custom planned to the needs of each guest. The emphasis of the Photo Safari is on finding and seeing images, then, capturing what you see on film the way you see it. Much effort is placed on seeing the light, equipment technique, camera handling, films and lenses. This is a teaching/learning experience. One can work with any format that he is comfortable with but our main thrust is medium format and 35mm. If you will be coming for scenic images, a good, sturdy tripod and a wide-angle lens should be in your equipment. If it's animals or birds one should have the longest and fastest lens you can afford. Each Safari is tailored to the interests of our guests, taking into consideration the format of photography, equipment handling abilities and skill level of each client.
If wildlife photography is your special interest, there is a natural elk herd located in Cameron and Clinton County, which is usually easy to find. Wildlife is abundant with typical sightings of deer, bear, beaver, fox and assorted smaller mammals being recorded on most outings. For the birders there are eagles, osprey, and the usual migratory waterfowl and Eastern songbirds around our wetlands and lakes.
