In Extreme Southeastern Siberia,
the Vladivostok area

Spring Bird Migration along the Ulike River

This is a wonderful combination of several days of birding with deep immersion in backwoods Russian culture. The location is an unspoiled coastal area and transportation is largely by motorboat and hiking on hunters' trails.  You overnight in tents or hunting camps.  The area is kept in a surprisingly wild state because of the confusing  maze of canals.  This is a wilderness experience and your guide, biologist Yevgeniy Spirin will show you things few outsiders are privileged to experience. Logistics and language help is provided by host Victor Kutyavin.
